Music School/Recording Studio
The Music School provides lessons and group classes in the following:
Voice: The vocal department has classes in vocal technique, harmony, and performance troupe: showstoppers, specialized coaching for auditions.
- Vocal Technique: The anatomy and physiology of the breathing and vocal apparatus and other techniques as they apply to teaching voice.
- Harmony: Basic harmonic studies. Note identification, scale and mode construction, key signatures, interval recognition, chord construction, available tensions, principles of diatonic chord progressions and analysis.
- Showstoppers: A hard-working performance troupe that emphasizes in vocal harmonies, performance and dance (triple threats). Emphasis will be on preparing for performances and national talent competitions. Experience necessary.
Guitar:
- Guitar 1: Instruction for the absolute beginner. Focus on the proper way of playing by reading music and theory. Primary chords will also be covered.
- Guitar 2: Continuation of 1. Must have assimilated playing on the first three strings and primary chords.
- Guitar Ensemble: Continuation of 2. Focus will be on continuing reading, primary chords and ensemble work among the participants.
Ensembles:
- Rock Band: Join one today! Ensembles will focus on learning rock performance in a variety of rock styles and approaches. Available positions: guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards.
- Contemporary Music Ensemble: Mixed instrumental ensembles to study and perform music of today. Available positions: violin, keyboards, any woodwind, or brass, drums, and bass.
- Jazz Ensemble: Ensembles that perform arrangements in a variety of contemporary jazz styles. Available positions: violin, keyboards, any woodwind, or brass, drums, and bass.
Private Lessons: One-on-one instruction in the following areas: voice, piano, guitar, bass, keyboards, woodwinds, brass, drums, and percussion.
Recitals: Two recital opportunities are offered. Fall recitals usually fall in the month of November and Spring recitals fall in April and May.
